Saint Paul’s Market, a new 500-capacity food hall in Birmingham’s vibrant Jewellery Quarter, has made music a key part of its visitor experience. To deliver consistent, high-quality audio throughout the bustling venue, Giraffe Audio deployed our GPL series loudspeakers and DP-F series amplification to meet the venue’s unique acoustic and functional requirements.

Housed in a converted industrial warehouse, Saint Paul’s Market brings together seven independent kitchens and two bars under one roof. Created by the team behind Liverpool’s popular Baltic Market, the venue offers a versatile space for daytime dining and high-energy weekend events, with a focus on sociable, music-driven ambience.

Giraffe Audio, based in Birmingham, was appointed to design, install, and commission the venue’s full audio system. With extensive experience in commercial sound design, their team worked closely with the venue owners to deliver a setup that matched both aesthetic and operational goals.

The following system was deployed:

• GPL series loudspeakers

• DP-F series amplification

• i Series (bathrooms)

The open-plan warehouse posed several acoustic challenges due to high ceilings, reflective surfaces, and the ambient noise generated by seven working kitchens. While acoustic treatment was outside the project’s scope, Giraffe Audio addressed these issues through careful speaker positioning and tuning.

To ensure even coverage, the team specified a higher-than-average number of GPL loudspeakers, creating consistent audio presence across all zones. Using architectural plans and predictive heatmaps, the system was designed to energise the venue during peak periods without compromising conversation or comfort.

Control flexibility was also key. The installed system enables seamless transitions between DJ-led events on weekends and automated background playlists during the week, with intuitive controls accessible to the management team.

Since opening, Saint Paul’s Market has attracted thousands of visitors, with both the venue team and customers praising the vibrant yet comfortable atmosphere. The system’s clarity, power, and ease of use have proven essential in delivering a standout audio experience.
