Compare The Series

OVERVIEW

From October 2023 Wharfedale Pro DP-F and DP-N series amps have HUGE UPGRADES!
The output power, the model numbers and the configurations remain the same but….., all the new DP-F and DP-N models have…..

  • Updated DSP Controller software features
  • Increased internal DSP functions
  • New IPS colour displays
  • Locking XLR connectors
  • AES / EBU inputs

The product names stay the same – but the added features are huge upgrades.

The scale and expanded feature-set of these upgrades means that not all of the new software features are backwards compatible.  However users of current DP-F and DP-N series amplifiers will still benefit from multiple improvements in the DSP Control Software.  Even the original DP-F and DP-N amps now gain many new features through the simultaneous release of DSP Control v1.1.8.

For a full list of features and compatibility, please see the supporting tables.

Harnessing the power of the internal DSP

The supplied editing software gives a practical overview of all system parameters and DSP features within the DP-F amplifier.

It is simple to monitor and edit the DP-F remotely.

FIR Filtering gives

  • Independent control of magnitude and phase.
  • More detailed equalisation.
  • Optimisation of frequency and power response.

Huge output power and stable down to 2 Ohms

The power output figures of DP-F series are staggering. The rated power outputs are measured at THD = 1%, continuous sinusoidal 1 KHz with each channel working simultaneously.

DP-N amps are also stable down to 2 Ohms. This allows for multiple 8 Ω or 16 Ω speakers to be driven with extreme power.

Control is via the Ethernet network connectors on the front.

With the supplied control software all parameters can be edited and all performance functions can be remotely monitored.

Lets make it easy…. and call it PFC instead!

PFC, combined with the Switching mode power supplies inside DP series amps, increases the amplifier efficiency and regulates to ensure smooth power delivery even with huge fluctuations in the AC supply.

In the real world, it makes a big difference to amplifier performance and stability.

In this high impedance system example, the DP-2200N can drive up to 100 pcs of i8T loudspeakers. This configuration can also drive LESS than 100 pcs of i8T.  Any number between 2 or 100 !

When switched to 100 V mode, DP-N (F) models have Peak Limiter and RMS Limiters set automatically.  Only the HPF needs setting in the EQ section.

Important : Before connecting the load to the amplifier, first measure the line impedance with an impedance bridge (a simple low-cost unit is adequate). If the load impedance is too low, the power amplifier will be loaded down and may overheat or distort. It’s a myth that you can connect an unlimited number of speakers to a 100 V or 70 V line.   If the load impedance measures it’s lower than the amplifier minimum operative impedance, re-tap all the speakers at the next-lower power tap.  This raises the load impedance. Measure again.

DSP presets can make life easy and are vital to get the most from a system.

For simplicity, we have created a single file download which contains all of the current presets for many of our loudspeakers for use DP-F and DP-N series amplifiers. As we add more presets for new products, the “Wharfedale Pro Preset Library.zip’ file grows and contains the complete collection of system presets.

There are also README files included which explain more about each preset.

DEPLOYMENT CHOICES

In The Air

Configure vertically and deploy as a ‘traditional’ flying array. The optional WLA-1 Common Fly Frame ensures stability and that flying is easy.

On The Ground

The optional SP-4 pole easily connects the 21″ sub to the tops.  Dual angle 35 mm pole sockets in the full range elements makes angle adjustments safe and easy.

Horizontal

The optional WLA-1 Link hardware connects three elements of either WLA-112 or WLA-115 to create a 3 unit horizontal array with 60 H x 100 V dispersion
