Compare The Series
The XLA Series is Wharfedale Pro’s all-new flagship line array system. With two subwoofer models and a 3-way full-range coaxial element, the system employs advanced acoustical engineering to deliver stunning, immersive sound.
At the core of the XLA-308 full-range element is a centrally mounted coaxial mid-high transducer, integrated with Wharfedale Pro’s innovative EVO-FLOW waveguide. Flanked by two advanced 8” neodymium woofers in separate vented enclosures, this design ensures precise, high-performance low-frequency output while maintaining compact dimensions and reduced weight. Custom drivers, crafted by B&C in Italy, provide exceptional clarity, uniformity, and sonic detail across all frequencies above 500 Hz.
For deep, powerful bass and unmatched system versatility, XLA Series offers two subwoofers. The XLA-118SUB is Wharfedale Pro’s first cardioid-arrayable flown subwoofer, designed for maximum flexibility and precision. Complementing it is the overwhelming XLA-221SUB, (yes 2 x 21”) which delivers the INFRABASS that customers around the world have been anticipating.
Both subwoofers are equipped with advanced custom drivers from Beyma featuring Maltcross technology and 4.0” multi-layer voice coils. This ensures superior heat management and reliable performance even under demanding conditions.
With flexible rigging options, including cardioid flown configurations, rugged construction, and tailored FIR presets, the XLA Series ensures unmatched clarity, precision, and power.
XLA has been over-engineered to ensure that the audience hears every nuance of the performance with unprecedented clarity and uniformity. It’s not just about volume; it’s about delivering sound with precision and power.
XLA-308
It’s all in the product name. XLA-308 is a passive 3-way Bi-amped element. It contains dual 8″ Low frequency neodymium drivers with a centrally mounted Mid/Hi coaxial driver…….. coupled to our EVO-FLOW waveguide.

Designed and manufactured by B&C in Italy, the Mid / Hi coaxial compression driver features a 3″ MF voice coil and a 2″ HF voice coil.

Here we see the Horizontal dispersion diagram for XLA-308.

And now the Vertical dispersion diagram:

And finally, the incredible Impulse Response Wavelet diagram of XLA-308..
X axis is Milliseconds. Y axis is Frequency.
The linear phase response of XLA-308 ensures that all frequencies above 250 Hz arrive on time.

For the advanced coaxial compression driver, an equally advanced crossover has been created.
This Hi-Fi grade passive crossover has HF PTC protection and has been meticulously designed by our team in the UK.

The DUAL 21″ subwoofer (XLA-221SUB) uses 2 x 21″ drivers manufacturered by BEYMA in Europe. Cast aluminium frame, aluminium demodulating rings, Maltcross ® cooling technology are extreme features resulting in extreme (and controllable) sub sound pressure levels.
Notice something in the centre of the cabinet in between the drivers?
Thats the Flared Laminar Port (FLP). It reduces port turbulence or “chuffing,” which can occur at high sound pressure levels.
FLP improves…..
1) Airflow Smoothness: The flared shape allows air to move more smoothly in and out of the port, reducing turbulence and ensuring laminar (non-turbulent) airflow. This results in cleaner sound output.
2) Bass Response: By reducing turbulence, the port maintains consistent airflow, allowing the subwoofer to produce deeper and more accurate bass without distortion.
3) Airflow Noise: The flare reduces sharp edges and abrupt transitions, minimising noise caused by air rushing through the port at high volumes.
Combine the 2 x 21″ and the flying 18″ subs to get extended infrabass from the 2 x 21” and an extreme punch from the 18”. A combination to be experienced!

XLA-308 and the flying subwoofer, XLA-118SUB, feature our premium magnetic locking pins.
Easy, smooth and reliable inter-element physical connection and coupling.

The optional XLA Common Fly Frame supports either an array of XLA-308 elements or combinations with the flying XLA-118SUB.
Note: XLA CFF suport MAX 6 x XLA-308 under XLA-118SUB
*Max 16 units, 620 kg 12:1 safety factor
Max 6 x XLA-308 under 3 x XLA-118SUB
4 x shackles included.
