Big Fish Café in Fredrikstad, Norway, Upgrades to Wharfedale Pro!

Big Fish Café, a popular waterfront destination in Skjærhalden, Fredrikstad, has improved its customer experience with a significant audio upgrade featuring our Programme and i-series Installation loudspeakers. Replacing a smaller setup, the new Wharfedale Pro system delivers clear, well-balanced sound across both indoor and outdoor areas.

Situated at the harbour in Skjærhalden, Big Fish Café serves as a vibrant café and restaurant by day and transforms into a lively bar on weekends. With its stunning coastal views and welcoming atmosphere, the venue is a key gathering spot for both locals and tourists.

System design and configuration, including processor programming and detailed schematics, were handled by Håvard Herberg, owner of Gromlyd AS. Installation was then completed in-house by the café team, following the provided layout and guidance. The following system was deployed:

• 6 x Programme-X206 2-way full-range loudspeakers in white (indoor)

• 4 x i6 IP54 certified loudspeakers in white (outdoor)

• DP-4035i 4 channel installation amplifier

• XC-44F system management controller with FIR filters

The café owner noted a significant improvement in indoor audio quality, with better coverage allowing background music to be enjoyed without excessive volume. “It’s a much more enjoyable atmosphere now. We can keep the music at a pleasant level during the day, and still turn it up when the bar gets busy at night.”
